When I was a kid I grew up watching and learning to love the game called softball.  It was baseball, but not.  It was a little "bigger" ball, therefore easier to hit.  You had three outfielders in baseball and 4 in softball; the fields for baseball were long, but smaller for softball.  The pitchers throw overhand in baseball and much faster; in softball it's underhanded with an arch from 6' - 12'.  I could go on and on about the difference's of softball and baseball.  I have a great passion for the sport.  I enjoy being able to run down a fly ball in the outfield, making a diving catch. Even the inside the park home runs I always was able to get.

My brothers and I, oh lets say around the ages of 7-10, watched our father play softball for the church.  We always wanted to get out there and play, so we practiced.  During the summer months we would get up early in the morning and throw the ball, pitch it, toss it any which way we could, until we couldn't throw any more.  We made up games like "throw till you dropped it". Basically you threw the ball back and forth until the other one dropped the ball. When you dropped the ball or missed it you would lose a point. The points always varied from 10-25.  The last one with points would win.  These games would go on for hours.  Once we got much better, days.

I enjoy this game even while coaching. It gives me the chance to share the enjoyment and passion that I have.  Our team currently has some very inexperienced players, but I truly believe that we can have a great team, as long as the team and myself are willing to learn and do whatever it takes to get better.  We can have fun, be Christians setting examples for the ones younger than us, so that maybe one day they too can have some great memories to tell and share with loved ones and friends.
